Practice report: Alabama gears up for first scrimmage; veteran linebacker absent

After hearing from NBA great Kobe Bryant on Thursday, Alabama head coach Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide returned to practice Friday for its final session of the week before its first live action scrimmage at Bryant-Denny Stadium.  Players worked in humid, 96-degree weather conditions for its seventh practice, despite missing a veteran presence on the field.
