Hill is a 5-Star recruit and is the No.1 safety in the nation. He was a big Alabama target and many felt the Tide were in a great position after an official visit in June. Hill took a visit to Ann Arbor on last week and that is when the magic happens for the Wolverines.
Alabama would have loved to landed Hill, but the Tide still does have a chance to land an impressive defensive back class. The Tide currently has three defensive back commits in 4-Star commits Brandon Turnage, Christian Williams and Demarcco Hellams. Here is a breakdown of all three of them.
Christian Williams has great speed and knows how to judge the ball in the air. The 4-Star Alabama product is one of those guys that can compete for those 50/50 balls and come down with the pigskin.
Brandon Turnage is one of the more athletic guys in this class and could honestly play on the offensive side of the ball as well. He is very explosive and uses his offensive knowledge to aid him on defense. It is easy to tell this guy knows how to detect plays early and stop them in their tracks.
Demarcco Hellams is a scrappy defender that jumps at any opportunity to force a turnover. He is very athletic, which enables him to play both wideout and free safety. Nick Saban has been known to try players out in different positions, so don’t be surprised if he gets the chance to see some time on offense.
The Tide also still has some top defensive back targets on the board, that includes 4-Star DB, Noa Pola-Gates. Gates is really high on Alabama at the moment. He will visit Tuscaloosa to watch the Tide take on Auburn in the Iron Bowl.
4-Star safety, Devonta Lee, is another option for the Tide. He released top 7 this Summer, which included the Tide. His teammate 5-Star DT, Ishmael Sopsher, is another huge Alabama target.
Alabama’s 2019 class will continue to push forward and still has a chance to be one of Saban’s best classes. Touchdown Alabama Magazine will keep you updated on all of Alabama’s recruiting news.
