As great as was in college at Alabama, Calvin Ridley may have an even better professional career in the National Football League with the Atlanta Falcons.
After being selected with the 26th pick in the first round of this year’s draft, Ridley impressed his coaches and teammates throughout the summer. The former five-star and All-American took the things that made him successful under Nick Saban, and in his third regular season game, he applied them against New Orleans — despite a 43-37 loss.

For those who started the Florida native in Fantasy Football, Ridley made owners and participants happy as he scored 44 points. While former Tide star Julio Jones draws much attention, the No. 2 leader in UA history for receivers recorded a breakout performance. Ridley turned in seven catches for 146 yards and three touchdowns, all of which were career-highs for him.
All three of his scores resemble plays he was part of at Alabama – including his 75-yard reception from Ryan, where he stacked on top of a Saints’ defender, made a great catch and took it the distance.
According to ESPN’s Stats and Information, Ridley is the first rookie in franchise history to post three touchdowns in a single game and he also becomes the first Falcons’ receiver to tally three scores in a matchup since tight end Algie Crumpler in 2006.
Calvin Ridley is the first Falcons rookie with 3 TD catches in a game and the first Falcon to do so since Alge Crumpler in 2006.
