The Crimson Tide has six verbal commits listed on the Alabama roster for the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game.
Those commits are Taulia Tagovailoa (QB), Pierce Quick (OT), D.J. Dale (DT), Christian Williams (DB), Amari Kight (OT), and Will Reichard (K). Will Reichard will perform kicking and punting duties. Alabama 5-Star center target, Clay Webb, will also participate.
The game will be played on Dec.17 in Montgomery, Alabama. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
Here is a breakdown of the guys representing the Tide.
Taulia Tagovailoa
Taulia is a 4-Star quarterback, but unlike his brother, he is more of a pro-style quarterback. He is very comfortable in the pocket. He keeps his feet moving at all times and throws the ball with a ton of confidence.
Alabama’s coaching staff already has a great connection with Taulia, which should make his transition to Alabama very smooth. Alabama’s 2019 recruiting class is off to a good start. It is safe to say the Tide are bouncing back.
Pierce Quick
Quick is a name that many people have heard time and time again for his efforts on the recruiting trail. Some of that attention may have taken the light away from his ability on the field. Quick is a 5-Star recruit, that makes sure he puts his hand on someone every play. He rarely loses a one on one battle and is a master at getting pancake blocks.
DJ Dale
Dale is one of the top players in the state of Alabama and it is easy to tell why. He is quick on his feet and has the ability to dominate inside of the trenches.
The 6-feet-3-inches 323-pounder is extremely athletic and very knowledgeable of the game. He fires off the line with a great burst of speed and is able to break down when attempting to make tackles, making it very difficult for ball carriers to make a move on him.
Christian Williams
Williams is ranked as No.87 in the ESPN 300. He is very athletic. He has great speed and knows how to judge the ball in the air. The 4-Star Alabama product is one of those guys that can compete for those 50/50 balls and come out with the pigskin.
He is another guy that has experience playing on both sides of the ball. Saban has been known to experiment with players and try them at different positions all over the field. Williams is one of those unique players that Saban could tweak to fit Alabama’s offensive and defensive scheme.
Amari Kight
Kight is a 4-Star offensive tackle. He is ranked as No.43 in the ESPN 300.
The 315-pounder is a teammate of Alabama quarterback commit, Taulia Tagovailoa. Kight is excellent at the tackle position as he has great footwork. He knows how to keep his feet at shoulder width and make his self wide, which makes it hard for a defensive end to get around him. The Tide has a chance to land the best offensive line class of the Saban era and Kight plays a huge part in that.
Will Reichard
Everyone knows of the kicking woes the Tide have had over the last couple of seasons, which makes this commitment such a huge one. Kickers are often called upon during the most pressure-filled situations and having a great one goes over well for any team. The Tide has not been very lucky in the kicking game as of late, but have fortunately been able to work around it. Reichard will have a chance to change this when he gets his opportunity.
