Underrated & Overlooked is a column designed to shine a spotlight on prospects that have the potential to play at the next level but do not have the lofty star ratings or the luxury of great exposure. The column will attempt to run once a week right here at www.tdalabamamag.com.
It happened. It was his freshmen year of varsity football when Robert Jones felt the ultimate feeling that came with reaching paydirt.
“I remembered feeling like this is it,” Jones said. “I am living the dream.”
Jones first picked up a football at the age of four while leaving in Florida and he has not looked back since then. He has instead continued to push himself to be the best that he can be and now is the featured back for one of the top teams in the state of Georgia, Cedar Grove High School.
He holds a total of 11 offers, but none of them are from a power 5 schools. Make no mistake about it, he is grateful to hold those offers and lives off the saying “treat them all with respect”, but he also believes in his ability on the field as not only a running back, but as an athlete that wants to help his team in any way that he can.
At 5-feet-10-inches and 188 pounds, Jones is a tough runner that has one mission in mind when he touches the rock. He wants to reach the end zone. He has found the end zone on many occasions this season with his hard nose running style and ability to exploit every hole his offensive line opens.
His dream school is the Florida Gators, but he welcomes any offer that comes his way. Jones could be a huge steal for someones 2019 recruiting class.
