WATCH: Alabama football makes Heisman pitch for Tua Tagovailoa

Cedric Mason - Touchdown Alabama Magazine

Alabama football is using its social media platform in recruiting, commending current/former players that are doing well and now, it’s promoting the Heisman campaign of Tua Tagovailoa.

An epic video for the sophomore quarterback was released on Tuesday, as he and Kyler Murray of Oklahoma are fighting for position as the frontrunner.

Tagovailoa has turned the Crimson Tide’s offense into must see television, navigating it to being third in college football in both scoring offense (48.7 ppg) and total offense (541.5 ypg) through 11 regular season games.

He accounts for 3,050 total yards (185 rushing) with 31 touchdown passes to two interceptions. Tagovailoa surpassed ex-Tide quarterback AJ McCarron in single-season scoring passes, tossing three in Alabama’s 50-17 win over Citadel.

He has a higher quarterback rating than Murray at 97.5 to 95.5, and though Murray carries more passing yards (3,310), touchdown passes (34) and a better completion percentage (70.3%), Oklahoma’s defense can’t keep a lead.

Sooners’ head coach Lincoln Riley has a group that allows 30.7 points per game – including 40-plus points surrendered to Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and Kansas. It has not been a detriment for Alabama with Tagovailoa on the bench in the fourth quarter, due to his efficiency in the first three periods.

The newest member of the Heisman fraternity will be revealed on Saturday, Dec. 8 and for Alabama fans, they hope to see the Hawaiian native hoist the coveted bronze honor.
