Two of the biggest hires on Alabama’s coaching staff for 2018 are former members of Mississippi State University in Charles Huff and Brian Baker.
While Huff will be over running backs, Baker is in charge of getting the Crimson Tide’s defensive line to have positive consistency with generating sacks.
In three years with the Bulldogs, Baker created one of the nastiest defensive units in all of college football.

Mississippi State led the nation in total defense (263.1 ypg) and finished second in scoring defense (13.2 ppg) in 2018, and the program projects having two top-15 picks for this year’s NFL Draft in Montez Sweat and Jeffery Simmons.
With the Tide returning Raekwon Davis, LaBryan Ray, Phidarian Mathis, Terrell Lewis and Anfernee Jennings, Baker will have enough five-star names to assist Alabama back to being a feared unit nationally.
In this airing of In My Own Words, Stephen Smith talks the decision to hire Baker and why it bodes well very for the program as it prepares for spring practice.
