Alabama offer feels unreal to Gage Wilcox

Alabama offered 2021 tight end, Gage Wilcox, on Tuesday.

Wilcox is a 4-Star recruit and is a product of Jefferson High School in Tampa, Florida. He stands at 6-4 and weighs 225 pounds. He was told he received an offer from the Tide by his coach, which was a surreal moment for the sophomore recruit.

“It didn’t feel real,” Wilcox said.

Alabama has not gotten a chance to get Wilcox on campus just yet, but most likely are planning to do so. The Florida native speaks highly of the Crimson Tide and can see himself striving in Tuscaloosa.

“They are an amazing school and I feel I could be very successful there,” Wilcox said.  “I can’t wait to meet the coaching staff.”

16 Division one schools have offered Wilcox. Georgia, Florida, Auburn, Kentucky and the Tide are the only SEC schools to offer him. His recruitment is still in its early stage as he is only a sophomore and coaches are not allowed to directly contact him. Although, he does know what he is looking for in a potential school.

“I really want a tight connection with the coaches, making sure I want to spend the next three to four years of my life with a coach I like and players I like as well,” Wilcox said.

At 6-4 and only a sophomore in high school, there is a chance Wilcox adds on a couple more inches and a few more pounds. This would make him more than ready to jump in and make an immediate impact at the next level.

Wilcox is not ready to make a commitment any time soon as offers continue to roll in and teams increase their interest.
