Alabama lands 6-7 2019 Tight End, Richard Hunt

Alabama added a late member to its 2019 class by extending an preferred walk-on offer to Richard Hunt on Sunday.

Hunt is a 6-7 tight end out of Briarcrest Christian High School in Eads, Tennessee,. He took a visit to Tuscaloosa on Sunday, where Nick Saban told him about his offer and the coaches plans for him. Richard said he feels their conversation made his decision easier.

“The talk with Coach Saban really convinced me,” Richard said. “The coaches told me that they are a little deficient at the tight end  position and that i can work my way up.”

Alabama landed one tight end in the 2019 recruiting class. After losing Irv Smith to the NFL, the Tide could use Hunt to add some depth to the position. The Tide have shown they wanted to do this on the recruiting trail and on the field as they are trying linebacker, Cameron Latu, at tight end during spring practice.

Hunt has great admiration for the dynasty that Saban has built at Alabama and feels he is one of the best college coaches.

“He is hands down the best college coach ever and I can’t wait to play for him,” Hunt said.

At 6-7, Hunt has the perfect size for a tight end. He has a track record of being a great blocker in the run game and a mismatch in the passing game.
