During Nick Saban’s Thursday press conference, he was asked if any players were to be held out for the A-Day scrimmage. Saban confirmed that outside linebackers Terrell Lewis, Ben Davis and right tackle Jedrick Wills are all out. He also added that tight end Major Tennison who has missed the team’s last three practices is in the concussion protocol and is questionable.
Lewis has had a tough time over the past two season’s dealing with injuries. As a redshirt freshman, Lewis tore a ligament in his elbow against Florida State in the season opener but was able to return to the team for the postseason. Last season was more of the same for the outside linebacker, he suffered a torn ACL before the start of the season. Now with another leg injury, Lewis will be held out of A-Day.
Ben Davis has been held out for most of the spring because of multiple surgeries over the offseason. He was just recently able to dress in a black non-contact jersey and be able to be out there with the outside linebackers. Although he did not participate in any drills it was a step in the right direction.
Wills and Tennison are the more recent additions to the injury list. Wills sprained his ankle in the team’s scrimmage last Saturday and it is unclear when Tennison was injured. Defensive back Shyheim Carter will play in the spring game despite Saban saying he will not be 100 percent.

Although these players are not participating in the annual spring game, Saban is still pleased with the team’s overall ability to stay healthy.
