Groce is a product of Pleasant Grove high school in Pleasant Grove, Alabama,. His top eight list was rounded out by Auburn, Mississippi State, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Georgia Tech and UAB. He grew up watching Nick Saban push Alabama football to the standard it is at today and feels it would be an honor to help him continue it.
