According to Ian Rapoport, Seattle Seahawks defensive tackle Jarran Reed is being suspended six games for a violation of the NFL’s personal conduct policy. It’s being reported that his suspension is due to an incident from early 2017 and was not charged or arrested. His appeal was also denied Friday morning per Rapoport.
Reed is coming off of his best season in the NFL where he compiled 10.5 sacks along with 50 tackles and 24 quarterback hits. The 26-year-old also underwent surgery for a sports hernia back in April but would have been ready to participate in training camp.
This is not the type of news the Seahawks need at this point in time, especially after trading one of their best defensive players in Frank Clark. It also doesn’t help that Reed is in the final year of his rookie deal and will prefer to have showcased his skills over a full season in order to get all the money he deserves.
It is unlikely that the suspension would alter Seattle’s plans of an extension but it certainly doesn’t help.
