If you thought that Nick Saban would be excluded from the conversation of accolades, you’d be sorely mistaken.
Today it was announced that the Alabama head coach has been selected to the Dodd Trophy watch list for the 2019 season.
The Dodd Trophy is handed out to the coach of the year in college football whose team displays excellence on and off the field. The winner of the trophy is decided by a committee of college football experts and also previous recipients of the award.
The winner will be announced during halftime of the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl this season.
Saban has won the trophy one other time back in 2014 where the crimson tide went 12-2 on the season. If Saban were to take home the award for a second time he would join Bill Snyder and Joe Paterno as the only other coaches to take home the trophy multiple times.
