Landon Dickerson named starting RG; still in the mix at center for Alabama

© John David Mercer - USA TODAY Sports

Through the injuries he suffered at Florida State and making the decision to transfer to the University of Alabama, the determination of Landon Dickerson is inspiring.

After arriving on campus a couple of weeks ago, his work ethic, intelligence and toughness has impressed both teammates and coaches. Dickerson, a former five-star from North Carolina, brings a nastiness to the offensive line and his performance has him in the mix to start at right guard or center.

Per the depth chart, which was released on Monday, there is a slash (/) at both spots,

Nick Saban told reporters when a slash appears, it means competition is still going. Even with this being stated, Dickerson is in front of Matt Womack at guard and is giving Chris Owens a push at center.

This speaks to the depth of the Crimson Tide along its front.

At 6-foot-6 and 308 pounds, Dickerson was arguably FSU’s best offensive lineman.

Despite excelling as a mean road grader, he was also stellar in pass protection.

He assisted Deondre Francois to a season-high four touchdown passes versus Louisville in 2018 for a 28-24 victory. Dickerson has played at guard and center for Alabama, but he can maneuver at tackle too. Depending on how he fares the rest of this week, Nick Saban will decide where the graduate transfer fits best on the front.

Seeing his rapid rise is a positive sign for Tide fans.
