Unlike most graduates of big-time sports schools, ESPN’s Rece Davis is as unbias as they come and showed it even more so during an appearance on The Dan Patrick Show on Wednesday.
The two discussed the College Football Playoff rankings which were revealed on Tuesday night. Davis, an Alabama graduate, has famously stated that his alma mater needs a lot of help in order to have a shot at the postseason and does not deserve to slide right in like years past.

While on Patrick’s show, Davis was asked what the committee would rather see. An LSU and Alabama rematch or a Joe Burrow and Ohio State game.

“I think the committee does it’s best to try to avoid thinking about such things,” Davis said. “But there is going to be an absolute ‘crap’ storm if it’s LSU-Alabama rematch unless everybody has lost too.”
Davis went on to talk about how he believes the committee will try and avoid such theatre when making a decision like that.
“I have respect for their honor and integrity of trying to do the right thing,” Davis said. “They can’t penalize a team because they don’t want to see a rematch, but at the same time, if you injected them with truth serum, they’d probably rather not have that.”
Despite his criticisms about setting up high playoff games like these, Davis did say that he believed that Burrow going up against his former team Ohio State would be “fascinating”.
