Is the CFP committee setting up an Alabama-LSU rematch? One ESPN analyst thinks so

John David Mercer - USA TODAY Sports

Ryan Clark wants no smoke with Alabama.

The former standout at Louisiana State University and current personality at ESPN made one thing clear on Wednesday: He does not want the Tigers facing the Crimson Tide again.

After an incredible second half for Alabama on last week, despite a 46-41 loss, Clark feels as though the College Football Playoff committee is setting up a rematch. He remembers the result from the 2012 BCS title game (2011 season) and surely does not want to relive it.

“I see the set up happening,” Clark said on Get Up.

“I see they threw Alabama the alley-oop. They put them right at five. I have seen this story before. In 2012, I was begging the world make sure Oklahoma State gets in. Oklahoma State won their conference… Alabama does not deserve it. It was the game of the century, let it sit there. Now, we have the game of the decade and now you are going to sneak Alabama in there and everybody is going to be like ‘they deserve it’ and they actually do because every time you put them in there – when people don’t think they should be there – they stinking win it. I don’t want to play them again. Let us live… Let us have our shine.”

Some big respect for Alabama from a former LSU defensive back; however, it might be a scenario he cannot escape.

Should the Tide convincingly win out the remainder of its regular season schedule and Georgia suffers a loss, Nick Saban’s bunch is back in the CFP’s top four.

Alabama handled LSU in the 2012 title game, 21-0, and Clark fears the same thing could occur again.
