It seems as if Alabama will be following the same protocol as last week with its starting quarterback.
During his weekly teleconference, head coach Nick Saban gave an update on the status of Tua Tagovailoa as the team prepares to play Mississippi State this weekend.
“He’s got soreness in his ankle from playing in the game, and just like a lot of players this time of year, you’ve got to manage to practice, you’ve got to manage the reps,” said Saban. “Just like last week, it’ll probably be a game-time decision as to whether he can or can’t play.
“I don’t even know for sure if he’ll be able to practice fully today. We expect him to able to do some things, but we’ll just have to wait and see. It’s kind of day-to-day.”

This comes off the heels of the Crimson Tide’s first loss of the season at the hands of LSU 46-41. At that time Tagovailoa was just two weeks removed from a tight-rope procedure on his sprained right ankle.
Tagovailoa has already missed Monday’s practice due to rest and appeared to be extremely limited during the media viewing period on Tuesday. During the Tuesday practice, he was seen wearing tennis shoes for the period.
Should the junior quarterback not be able to go, Saban will once again turn to redshirt sophomore Mac Jones who already has one start under his belt this year against Arkansas. Jones performed well during his first career start completing 81.8 percent on his passes and throwing for 235 yards and three touchdowns.
The Crimson Tide will travel to Starkville this weekend to face the Bulldogs in an 11 a.m. CT game
