Normally, when I write these columns on a Thursday morning, the betting market is pretty well settled-in. Alabama’s point spreads are pretty universal across the board, and the over-under number is pretty consistent across most sports books. Not the case this week.
Questions surrounding Tua Tagovailoa’s status, and general uneasiness around the Alabama program after last week’s loss to LSU, have caused a wide range of opinions in the betting market. Circa opened Alabama as a 21-point favorite over Mississippi State on Sunday morning, which got bet down to -17. As I’m writing this on Thursday, you can get anywhere from Alabama -17.5 through Alabama -19. The total has bounced around from 63.5 down through 60.5 points.
