Time, network for Alabama-Auburn matchup next week

Marvin Gentry - USA TODAY Sports

Everything has been set up for the Iron Bowl.

Alabama is currently focused on this week’s matchup with Western Carolina, but according to the Southeastern Conference’s front office, the Alabama-Auburn matchup for Nov. 30 already has a scheduled time and network.

On Monday, the SEC announced the year’s Iron Bowl will kick off at 2:30 p.m. and CBS Sports will have the call.

For a rivalry that started in 1893, Alabama and Auburn have met 83 times as the Crimson Tide holds an 46-36 lead with one tie.

As the Tide’s starting quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa propelled the team to a 52-21 victory at Bryant-Denny Stadium last season. However, the venue is Jordan-Hare Stadium and the Tigers always carry a few tricks at home. This game is huge for Alabama, especially with a pending opportunity at the College Football Playoff. Should it handle Auburn convincingly, it puts the CFP committee in a bind upon choosing the best four teams.

If the Tide wins out the remainder of its schedule and LSU wins the SEC Championship – then Alabama should find its way into the playoff.

The focus is one this week; however, it will be interesting to see how Mac Jones and the Tide’s offense will challenge Auburn.
