Alabama’s 2020 recruiting class is currently among the nation’s best and is filled with young men of ‘good character’, according to Nick Saban, which started at their homes with the love of their mothers.
Throughout the recruitment process, parents like recruits, have to be recruited and many build bonds with one another. The Tide’s 2020 recruiting class’ mothers have built that and more, and a suggestion from Saban, ensured their connection would get even stronger.
“It all started from a conversation with coach Saban and I had, while he met with the family,” Penny Moore, mother of Alabama’s 4-Star defensive back signee, Malachi Moore, said. “He said that I should be the President of the parent group that they have for parents of players. I was like oh really? I do not want to be in charge of anything but I could help. Then I met Tereon Anderson (Will Anderson’s mother) and Donna LaMar (Jackson Bratton’s mother) on their official visit. We all took pictures with Tameshia Kennedy (Demouy Kennedy’s mother) and Shelly Sanders (Drew Sanders’ mothers). We exchanged numbers and connected with other moms whose sons were Alabama commits.”
The group started with just a few mothers, but with the recruits, Alabama had verbally committed at the time and with the Tide’s continuous recruiting efforts, it quickly grew in numbers.
“Some of the mothers would send me numbers to add to our text group, but then it got to be so many moms, I started a group me for us,” Moore added. “I also connected with some of the boys on twitter to get their mothers’ information, so I could invite them to join us.”

A positive attitude is at the base of this group, which is why with each accolade Alabama’s 2020 commits earn, a slew of support with come from their extended family.
“This group is nothing but a positive group of moms who are cheering for each other and for our sons,” Moore said. “This is such an awesome way for everyone to get to know each other and help each other along the way.”

This group has grown into a sisterhood as each recruit is referred to as nephew, while their mothers are the aunties of the group.

Alabama’s 2020 recruiting class is far from done, so this group is only expected to get bigger as their bond grows even stronger.
