Jayson Elijah Jones feels verbal commitment to Alabama is ‘not strong, not weak’

4-Star defensive tackle, Jayson Elijah Jones, is verbally committed to Alabama but is still looking around.

Jones is a product of Calera High School in Calera, Alabama. The Calera product has been verbally committed to Alabama since July of 2018 and is one of their longest-standing commits. Jones said he is just testing the waters and enjoying the recruitment process.

“I am not saying that is strong, but I am not saying that is weak,” Jones said. “Like I told everyone else throughout this week, I am still looking around, just like how they are still looking around.”

The Alabama commit will spend his next couple of days in the Sunshine state, preparing for the Under Armour All-America Game. This is an experience like non-other to the massive defensive tackle.

“It is different because I come from Calera, Alabama, where most people I play against is not even six-foot and is 200 pounds,” Jones said. “It is great. I get to go against people my size and it helps me.”

The Tide hosted Jones several times this season and he wants to get down to Tuscaloosa in the near future.

“I want to, but I do not know when,” Jones said.

There has also been talks with Alabama about Jones playing on the offensive line, although Jones takes pride in playing on the defensive side of the ball in the trenches.

Official visits to Baylor and Oregon are locked in for Jones, while Georgia Tech, LSU and Auburn are also attempting to get him on campus.

Jones’ final decision will be revealed in February, where he will sign his National Letter of Intent.
