Peterson lined up at defensive end during his junior season for Archbishop Hoban High School (OH), which is the same school Alabama 2020 4-Star tight end signee, Caden Clark, attends. Alabama informed their Saturday visitors of the different opportunities their program has to offer student-athletes. The Ohio product walked away impressed with the benefits Alabama football players enjoy.
“Everything they do is for the benefit of the player,” Peterson said. “From sports medicine to mental health to coach (Scott) Cochran stating that he would die behind his method in the weight room to get players ready.”
Nick Saban also got a chance to talk with Peterson. Peterson said their conversation was very relaxing.
“It was very laid back and chill,” Peterson said. “We talked about a lot of stuff, on and off the field stuff.”
Alabama offered Peterson after an impressive junior season, where he had 45 tackles, 21 sacks, 24 tackles for loss and 3 forced fumbles. Jeff Banks, Alabama’s special teams’ coordinator and tight end coach, informed Peterson of his offer back in December. Banks complemented Peterson on his speed off the edge and his energy.
Peterson is rated as a 3-Star recruit on most recruiting sites but is expected to jump up most rankings as he continues to develop.
Michigan State, Boston College, Indiana and Northwestern have all offered Peterson recently. At the moment, he has a top three in mind and feels the Tide are in the mix.
“I have sort of cut it down to a few I like the most and they are definitely in my top 3,” Peterson said.
Like many other 2021 recruits, Peterson is just enjoying the recruitment process at the moment, visiting several different schools.
