Alabama had a productive junior day Saturday as they extended a handful of offers.
One of those offers went to Peter Woods, a rising sophomore out of Thompson High School in Alabaster, Alabama. This is Woods’ eighth Division 1 offer. The Thompson product said his excitement level was through the roof when he realized Alabama offered him.
“I was super excited,” Woods said. “I have grown up an Alabama fan. My dad went there and everybody in my family likes the school. I am really blessed to be noticed this early in my recruitment.”

Similar to Alabama’s most recent offers, Nick Saban was the one, who told Woods, he had an offer from the Crimson Tide.
“I was in coach Saban’s office having a conversation, and he told me, he wants me to know they are offering me and I have an opportunity to play at the University of Alabama,” Woods said.
Since Woods grew up an Alabama fan, he has witness a lot of their success under Nick Saban. Alabama has secured five National Championships with Saban at the helm along with seven appearances. While bolstering 12 National Championships before Saban, Alabama is looked at as one of the more successful college football programs in the nation.
Woods has respect for Alabama’s success in the Saban era and its success as a whole.
“They definitely have been one of the best college football teams,” Woods said “It is not just recent history, but history in itself. I believe that will carry on for years to come.”
At 6-2 and 230 pounds, Woods helped fueled a Thompson defense, who took home the AHSAA 7-A state championship in 2019. The Warriors used him as an edge rusher and also as an interior defensive lineman as a freshman.
Alabama has extended several offers to 2023 prospects. Woods joins his teammate, Tony Mitchell, as one of the early recruits to hold an offer from the Tide.
