After securing Ryan Tannehill to a big deal, the Tennessee Titans have some time to work on something for Derrick Henry.
On Monday, the team decided to franchise-tag him – according to a report from Adam Schefter of ESPN. For running backs, being under the tag for the coming season would have them pocketing $12.36 million via overthecap.com.

The Titans would have until July 15 to agree on a multi-year extension for Henry.
A former All-American and Heisman winner at Alabama, the second-round pick of the 2016 NFL Draft led the league in rushing with 1,540 yards last season. Henry totaled 16 touchdowns and turned in eight 100-yard games. He guided the team to the AFC Championship Game and in Tannehill’s struggles versus the Baltimore Ravens and New England Patriots, Henry pounded both defenses into submission. He averaged at 30 carried in both matchups and rushed for 180-plus yards.

He remains a Titan for now, but hopefully a bigger contract comes soon for Henry.
