Alabama football extended several new offers Wednesday and one of those offers went out to 2022 4-Star wide receiver, Shazz Preston.

Preston is a product of St. James High School in Saint James, Louisiana. The Crimson Tide are the 13th Division 1 program to offer the rising junior. Preston’s offer came from Alabama’s defensive coordinator and Louisiana native, Pete Golding.
“It was exciting when I found out I had an offer from the University of Alabama,” Preston said. “It is another blessing. I have another opportunity to show my talent. It is a good feeling.”
Alabama has grabbed some top-tier talent from the state of Louisiana in the past. Washington Redskins’ safety, Landon Collins, is one of the names that come to mind along with several others like current Alabama players, Dylan Moses and DeVonta Smith. The 4-star recruit is no stranger to what Alabama has done for several players and feels it is one of the things, that make them stand out.
“I know they are a big-time program and they produce guys, that go on to the next level,” Preston said. “That is big with me and I would be glad to be a part of it.”
Nick Saban is also not a stranger to Preston as he has attended several of Nick Saban’s football camps.
“Nick Saban is a different type of guy and he is a different type of coach,” Preston said. “I have been going to Alabama camps since I was in middle school and he always gives those speeches after practice about life. Ever since then, I just think of him as a different type of coach.”
At 5-11 and 178 pounds, Preston is one of the top wideouts in the 2022 recruiting class. He runs through the catch and can create space with his speed after the catch. With two full years of high school football left, Preston feels he wants to work on every part of his game.
“I need to work on my speed, my route running and my catch radius,” Preston said. “There is always room to improve. Nothing is perfect.”
Alabama has one commit in the 2022 recruiting class. A decision for Preston looks to be a long way off as he continues to pull in offers and build relationships.
