Alabama now has eight players that have entered the transfer portal.
According to a report from Matt Zenitz of AL.com, redshirt sophomore linebacker Markail Benton becomes the latest name. A four-star from Central High School (Phenix City, Ala.), Benton arrived in the Crimson Tide’s 2017 signing class. He’s played in 23 career games and totaled 33 tackles in his tenure. The 6-foot-2, 235-pounder started in the Tide’s dime package at linebacker in 2019; however, Nick Saban announced earlier this spring that he was suspended from the team.

After getting information on Tyrell Shavers hitting the portal, Benton joins him.
Alabama returns Dylan Moses, Joshua McMillon, Christian Harris, Shane Lee, Ale Kaho and Jaylen Moody at inside linebacker.
It also has true freshmen Demouy Kennedy and Jackson Bratton.
Since the offseason started, the Tide has lost Scott Lashley, Jerome Ford, Jeffery “Scooby” Carter, Taulia Tagovailoa, Tyrell Shavers, Giles Amos, Mac Hereford and Benton to the portal. Seven of the eight players were on scholarship.
