The Crimson Tide is cleaning up on the recruiting trail with 4-Star outside linebacker, Dallas Turner, announcing his commitment to the Crimson Tide Wednesday.
Turner chose Alabama over Georgia, Michigan, Oklahoma and Florida. The Tide hosted Turner in February for its junior day event and has continued to show significant interest. Delon Turner, Dallas Turner’s father, had good things to say about the Crimson Tide following that visit.
“I love the way (Nick) Saban runs the program,” Turner said. “It is very business-like. It is organized. Not to say other programs are not, but it is just the way that he instills that culture and holds kids accountable, really look at them as young men and try to develop them once they leave home. That is important to us. He is consistent. He is there. He has been the staple of that school and the production he has on the field. We know a few kids from South Florida, who have gone there and who have been very successful. There is definitely a connection there. Not only with the family, but with Dallas as well.”
Alabama now has ten commits in its 2021 recruiting class with Turner’s announcement coming days after Devonta Smith committed to the Tide. The Florida product becomes Alabama’s third linebacker commit and quite possibly their second outside linebacker commit with the possibility, that Ian Jackson could possibly play there as well.
According to Delon Turner, the opportunities a university has to offer its student-athletes played a huge role in Dallas’ decision.
“Dallas does not just come from a very sports-oriented background with his parents and what we do,” Turner added. “Sports is not just always first. He has always been a focused kid. I think for him it is going to be the best place, that has a fit. A place, where he can actually develop into a young man and a productive citizen of society. Football offers a great deal to that, but it also about developing into a great man overall. That is why he looks at a university and asks what it can offer him outside of football.”
At 6-4 and 245 pounds, American Heritage allowed Turner to be an explosive edge rusher during his time in Plantation, Florida. As a result, the rising senior racked up 16 sacks, 74 tackles and three forced fumbles. He also played on offense as a wide receiver.
