2021 5-Star defensive tackle, Maason Smith, released his top eight Saturday and included Alabama.

Smith’s most recent top school list was rounded out by LSU, Oklahoma, Georgia, Miami, USC, Oregon and Florida. The Terrebonne (LA) High School product held 30 Division 1 offers before cutting his list to eight. The Tide last hosted him in November when they went up against the LSU Tigers for an unofficial visit.
Alabama first offered Smith in March of 2019 and have continued to recruit him throughout this recruiting ded period via Zoom and phone. The Tide were also included in a top 10 Smith released in October.
At 6-5 and 316 pounds, Smith had more than 80 tackles and 10 sacks as a junior. The 5-Star recruit also proved to be hard to block during the last football season with his ability to use a quick first step and his agility. Terrebonne allowed him to rush from the edge and cause disruption up the middle.

Alabama currently has one 2021 defensive tackle committed in 3-Star prospect, Anquin Barnes. Their recruiting board include multiple defensive tackle prospects, including Damon Payne and Tim Keenan.
