Tuscaloosa, Ala. — The season opening matchup against the USC Trojans will no longer be played as Alabama athletic direction, Greg Byrne announced via a press release:
Statement from Alabama Director of Athletics Greg Byrne on 2020 Football Season Opener
“As I’ve said before, USC AD Mike Bohn and I had multiple conversations over the last several months, and we were both planning on playing the football game on September 5 in Arlington. With the Pac-12’s decision to move to a conference-only schedule, we will do our best to adjust. What that looks like is to be determined.”
With many other Power 5 conferences decided to go with a conference-only schedule, Alabama’s first game could possibly be the Georgia Bulldogs on September 19th until further notice.
