BREAKING: James, Tommy Brockermeyer commit to Alabama

5-Star offensive tackle, Tommy Brockermeyer, and 4-Star offensive lineman, James Brockermeyer, announced their verbal commitment to Alabama Friday.

The Brockermeyer twins’ decision gives the Tide three offensive line commits in the 2021 class. They join 5-Star offensive tackle and IMG Academy product, JC Latham. The Crimson Tide picking up James and Tommy is a result of Alabama’s offensive line coach, Kyle Flood, and Nick Saban persistently pushing for them throughout this recruiting dead period.

“I have been on zoom calls with coach (Kyle) Flood about once a week and we have FaceTime Nick Saban multiple times as well,” James Brockermeyer told Touchdown Alabama. “They have been talking about the ways they can develop you and the culture they have there along with an awesome winning tradition.”

Alabama has been recruiting Tommy and James for quite some time as they were included in a top-five released by Tommy in December. They extended an offer to James Feb. 1 and became the favorite to land both guys soon thereafter. It was also soon evident that there was a high possibility both guys would go to the same school when James released his final 4 and included Alabama, Auburn, LSU and Texas, and Tommy said that he was also down to the same schools.

As their senior season approach, they are preparing a bit different from the traditional way offensive linemen train.

“I sort of teach a bit different from what everyone else is teaching,” James and Tommy’s father, Blake Brockermeyer said. “I know Kyle Flood at Alabama will most likely teach more of it this season at Alabama. the pass protection and run block techniques I teach are a bit different than normal. Defensive linemen have gotten so good, that you can not do the things I use to do. You have to change it up. I have just really been working with them on muscle memory and their brains.”

Tommy currently comes in at 6-6 and 285 pounds. He is one of the top tackles in the country and showed that as a sophomore with his impressive mobility and scrappy blocking technique. Unfortunately, he missed his junior season with a shoulder injury.
