Watch list season continues to be a notable one for Alabama as two more players were recognized for a major college football award.
On Monday, it was announced that linebackers Dylan Moses and Shane Lee were named to the Butkus Award Watch List.
Lee and Moses are among 51 other candidates named to the preseason list for the nations top linebacker award.
Alabama has taken home the award four other times in the form of Reuben Foster (2016), CJ Mosley (2013), Rolando McClain (2009) and Derrick Thomas (1988).
Lee was one of the young linebackers who was called upon to step up for the Crimson Tide in 2019 in the absence of Moses and Joshua McMillon. In 13 games he was able to accumulate 86 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, three quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one interception.
On the flip side, Moses missed the entire 2019 season with injury and has a little bit to prove in his final season at Alabama. When healthy Moses was one of the top linebackers in all of college football.
Moses has started 17 of his 26 games in Tuscaloosa, and within those games posted 126 career tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, forced two fumbles and grabbed one interception.
The Butkus Award has been presented annually since 1985 by the Butkus Foundation to recognize the top linebacker in college football. The award is named in honor of college and NFL Hall of Fame linebacker Dick Butkus.
The 2020 winner will be announced at the conclusion of the regular season and recognized at the annual ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show in December.
