Not only does Miller Forristall get recognition for his on the field play, but is also getting accredited for what he does off the field in the community.
On Thursday, Forristall was named to the 2020 Wuefffel Trophy Watch List for community service.
Forristall is just one of 114 other candidates across college football who are all being highlighted for their tremendous work.
While attending the university, Forristall has contributed over 200 hours of community service while attending two separate mission groups with American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).
He also spent a week in Costa Rica coaching football camps and aiding with educating the community on healthy habitats and community conditions.
Forristall also traveled to a Nicaraguan Refugee Camp with fellow FCA student-athletes, and has made multiple hospital visits and participated in many community events during the Crimson Tide’s bowl events.
On the gridiron, Forristall saw his role with the team expand in 2019 when he was named the starting tight end. In nine games he caught 15 passes for 167 yards and four touchdowns before a throat injury against Arkansas which sidelined him until the Citrus Bowl.
The Wuerffel Trophy has been presented annually since 2005 by the All Sports Association of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., to recognize the college football player who best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement.
The award is named in honor of former Heisman Trophy winner Danny Wuerffel. This season’s winner will be announced at a National Football Foundation press conference in New York City on Dec. 8, 2020.
