Shortly after the announcement of the SEC opting to shift to a 10-game conference only schedule, many leaders from across the conference shared their thoughts on the major changes to the upcoming season.
Alabama head coach Nick Saban released his own statement shortly after the news was made official.
“We are pleased to have a plan in place for the South Eastern Conference this season,” said Saban. “We believe it is the best option to keep players and staff safe and still maintain the integrity of the season. The safety of our team will be a top priority throughout the season, but we are also excited that our players will have the opportunity to compete and play this season.
“I want to thank the leadership from our administration, our medical staff, the SEC and all the medical experts that are guiding us through this process.”
The new SEC season will begin on Sept. 26 along with the conference championship game being moved to Dec. 19.
The revised schedule for each team will be announced at a later date with the approval of each universities athletic directors.
