One day before the Alabama Crimson Tide football team was set to begin its fall camp, a rather untimely photo surfaced on the internet.
Senior offensive lineman Chris Owens shared a picture of students waiting in line to enter the local Tuscaloosa bar, Gallettes, and to the surprise of some (depending on who you ask), the photo showed a large number of students not wearing a mask.
How about we social distance and have more than a literal handful of people wear a mask? Is that too much to ask Tuscaloosa? pic.twitter.com/gZ4MbbmBZn

Unsurprisingly, the content of the photo was met with a good deal of disdain from many including Alabama Athletic Director Greg Byrne, who did not mince any words as he questioned the students desire to see their classmates play football this fall.
Who wants college sports this fall?? 🏈⚽️🏐🏃🏼♀️🏃🏿
Obviously not these people!! 🤦🏼♂️
We’ve got to do better than this for each other and our campus community. Please wear your masks!😷 pic.twitter.com/OAFocYZwin

Currently, the university has not commented on the photos but has released a set of consequences should a student decide to violate the COVID-19 safety rules.
For first time violations, the students will receive a written warning from the university, a second violation results in a formal conduct charge. Anyone who commits a third violation will see another conduct charge along with the possibility of disciplinary probation that can suspend a student for one whole year.
