New York Giants Safety Xavier McKinney suffers a broken foot during practice

On Wednesday, the New York Giants announced that rookie safety Xavier McKinney had suffered a fractured left foot during practice and will require surgery.

The Alabama product was selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft and was eyed to be one of the team’s important pieces in the secondary.

The team reported his surgery will take place later this afternoon and will be completed by foot specialist Dr. Martin O’Malley.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, McKinney is expected to miss 2-3 months.
