BREAKING: Tim Keenan III announces commitment to Alabama

2021 4-Star defensive tackle, Tim Keenan III, announced his commitment to Alabama Saturday.

Keenan becomes the Crimson Tide’s 20th commit in the 2021 recruiting class and its third defensive tackle pledge. With Keenan’s commitment, Alabama now has four in-state commits. Keenan’s last visit to Tuscaloosa was in February, where he got a chance to catch up with the Crimson Tide’s newest defensive line coach, Freddie Roach.

“We got a chance to catch up because we remembered each other from a youth camp,” Keenan said. “I like his style and his vision.” The Ramsey High School product has been near the top of Alabama’s recruiting board longer than many of its 2021 targets. Nick Saban and Alabama’s staff offered Keenan in June of 2018. However, Other programs in the running for the 4-Star prospect did not make it easy for Alabama.

Georgia, Georgia Tech, UAB, LSU were all included in his final five along with the Tide.

“They have all been calling and texting me frequently, telling me they want me at there school, that they need me there and they have a spot just for me,” Keenan told Touchdown Alabama Thursday. “It has been a lot of different things like that.”

At 6-2 and approximately 330 pounds, Keenan is one of the strongest linemen in this class and his hand movement on the rush is quite impressive. He has a long list of accomplishments, including winning the defensive line MVP award at the 2019 Nike Opening Regional Atlanta, beating out the like last of highly ranked 2020 prospects: McKinnley Jackson, Jamil Burroughs and Myles Murphy. Keenan said he feels he is a good lineman, but he wants to develop into a great one in the future.

“I have been working to become more of an athlete,” Keenan said. “I know I am a good defensive lineman, but I want to be a great defensive lineman. I know that adding some athleticism to my game will help me reach that goal.”
