Bryce Young missed Alabama’s first scrimmage of fall practice, and it gave Mac Jones and Paul Tyson an opportunity to demonstrate what they can do offensively.
He normally does not share quarterback stats from a scrimmage, but Nick Saban apparently had a change of heart on Saturday.

The six-time national champion told reporters that Jones, a redshirt junior, tossed for three touchdowns at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
He completed 21 of 36 pass attempts and though most would see 58.3 percent as a poor completion clip, one must take into account of Alabama not having spring practice. Also, he did go against the Crimson Tide’s first-team defense that looks very much improved. With Saban wanting a more balanced approach, having these numbers was actually solid for Jones.
The last time Jones played competitively was versus Michigan at the Citrus Bowl in January, where he completed 16 of 25 passes for 327 yards with three scores in a 35-16 win for the Tide.
Jones ended last season with 1,503 passing yards and 14 touchdowns to three interceptions.
He will continue to get better, as Alabama enters its third week of fall camp on Monday.
