Alabama football created a lot of conversation on Monday and it was not on the field.
Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide’s student-athletes held a protest march for racial/social injustice from the Mal Moore Athletic Facility to Foster Auditorium on the University of Alabama campus. In showing full support to his players, Saban led the march and was one of the speakers at the event. Despite some backlash on social media, many people showed appreciation toward the six-time national champion for being a leader among men.
Algernod Washington, better known as “Plies,” was one of them.

Like the athletes in the march, Plies was once an athlete himself — prior to taking on a career in music. A native of Fort Myers, Fla., he was a defensive back at Fort Myers Senior High School and played wide receiver at Miami (Ohio) University from 1995-97.

Plies was very proud to see Coach Saban and the players show the unity that is needed in today’s world.
