Following the team’s 52-24 victory against Texas A&M over the weekend, the Alabama Crimson Tide’s coaching staff released its players of the week on Monday. A total of seven student-athletes were selected this week with three on offense, two on defense and two specialists.
Alabama’s Players of the Week:
Deonte Brown
- The redshirt senior started at left guard and played 56 snaps in the Tide’s win over the Aggies
- Provided time for Mac Jones to throw for 435 yards and four touchdowns on the day
- Did not allow a sack or hurry on 27 pass attempts and was not charged with a penalty
- Successful on all assignments and helped UA roll up 544 yards of offense
Mac Jones
- Posted a career game in the second start of his redshirt junior campaign
- Passed for a career-high 435 yards, the fourth-most in a single game in Alabama history
- Completed 74.1 percent of his passes on 20-of-27 passing, including a career-best four touchdowns
- Finished with a passer rating of 250.9 while averaging 16.1 yards per attempt and 21.8 yards per completion against A&M
John Metchie
- Led all wideouts with 181 yards and two touchdowns on just five catches
- Scored from 78 and 63 yards out for the Tide’s first and last scores of the game
- Paced all UA receivers with 118 yards on four catches in the first half – both career-high marks in a full game for the sophomore
Christopher Allen
- Provided pressure off the edge for the UA defense all afternoon
- Finished with three tackles, including one for loss (-2 yards)
- The redshirt junior also contributed a quarterback hurry, one of the Tide’s eight for the game
Malachi Moore
- Made his second career start at star in just his second collegiate game as a freshman
- Recorded six tackles with four solo stops and added two pass breakups
- Registered his first career interception, ending an A&M drive in the red zone
Will Reichard
- Contributed 10 points on the day thanks to a perfect 7-of-7 effort on PATs in addition to a 27-yard field goal
- Also kicked off three times with the sophomore totaling 145 yards for an average of 48.3 yards per boot
Jaylen Waddle
- Returned one punt for an 11-yard gain, part of his 156 all-purpose yards on the afternoon
- The junior also was the deep man on kickoffs
