“As we said from the outset, this matter has been resolved with no criminal charges,” attorney Alex Spiro said in a statement. “This case was nothing more than a technical issue with the storing of a firearm, which is why the government gave Mr. Williams nothing more than a ticket.”
The charges stemmed from an arrest at LaGuardia Airport’s check-in counter in March, where Williams tried to board a flight while carrying a pistol. The 22-year-old had a permit for the weapon in Alabama but not in New York but did volunteer that he had the weapon.
Williams was the Jets first-round draft pick and third selection overall back in 2019. After a bit of a pedestrian rookie season, the former Alabama defender transformed his body in the offseason in hopes to make a larger impact on the team this season.
So far it has worked in William’s favor as he has 16 tackles and two sacks in four games in 2020.
