The ESPN College Football GameDay crew is in Tuscaloosa (Ala.) for Saturday’s matchup between Alabama and Georgia.
Everyone senses this matchup will be the game of the year, and it could be the first of a rematch down the road for a Southeastern Conference Championship. Alabama football will have its LED lighting feature going at Bryant-Denny Stadium, as a little over 20,000 fans look to push the Crimson Tide to victory at home.
A pleasant surprise will be on tap as Derrick Henry makes his return to his Alma mater.
A native of Yulee, Fla., Henry was a five-star in Alabama’s 2013 recruiting class and he became the school’s all-time leader for rushing yards (3,591) and touchdowns (42) in three seasons.
He set a new single-season rushing record for the Tide and SEC in 2015, totaling 2,219 yards rushing with 28 touchdowns on 395 carries.
Henry swept the College Football Awards Show that year, winning Maxwell, Doak Walker and Walter Camp honors. He was named SEC Offensive Player of the Year, earned unanimous All-American honors, and brought the Tide its second Heisman Trophy winner in school history.

The 6-foot-3, 247-pounder is having a great pro career, but Alabama fans will always remember his performance in the rain against the Bulldogs at Sanford Stadium in 2015. He had 26 carries for 148 yards rushing with one touchdown, and paced the Crimson Tide to a 38-10 win over Georgia. Behind Henry, Alabama captured a national championship in the 2015 campaign.
Henry will be the guest picker on College GameDay for the Alabama/Georgia matchup.
