Anytime two teams ranked in the top five of the college football rankings people all across the country will look to tune in. But Alabama and Georgia’s game last Saturday performed much differently than other matchups as it drew in a massive 12.046 million people at the peak of its game from 9:45-10:00 p.m. ET according to a CBS press release.

Throughout the nearly four hours of gameplay, the matchup had an average of  9.611 million viewers which for CBS, was an increase of 3% of a similar matchup the network broadcast when Georgia played Notre Dame at a similar point in the year.

Right now it is the most-watched college football game on any network so far in the 2020-21 season.

Its viewership domination transcended all sports as the game was the highest-rated non-NFL sporting even since live sports made a return in May. The 5.3/13 HH rating was able to beat out every single game of the MLB and NBA regular seasons along with their playoffs.
