It’s a phrase which Alabama fans haven’t heard in quite a few games.
The defense looked tremendous in the first half.
After putting together a solid performance against Tennessee the previous week, the unit led by defensive coordinator Pete Golding kept that momentum going into the opening quarters of its game against Mississippi State.
Mike Leach and the Bulldogs found little success with anything on offense as the Tide swarmed to the football and played tight coverage to withstand the air-raid offense.
What should be encouraging for Nick Saban is that a lot of the mistakes that have plagued the team in the past are seeming like they are getting cleaned up.
There were not many missed tackles and Mississippi State could not convert on third down and was held to a staggering 38 total yards through two quarters.
This set up Alabama’s offense, which hasn’t missed a step all season as it came out firing once again.
For the first few minutes quarterback, Mac Jones appeared to look human before getting things going with DeVonta Smith who had a huge half.
Smith currently sits with nine catches for 153 yards and three touchdowns which includes a 53-yard reception for a score.
Alabama leads Mississippi State 27-0 at the end of the half.
