The Crimson Tide were the 12th D1 program to offer Weldon. Georgia and Florida have offered the junior since then, giving him 14 D1 offers total. The Hallandale High School product said it was a proud moment when he found out he had received an offer from Alabama.
“I felt good,” Weldon said. “I am making my family proud. I do not have to pay for college. I can just go out and ball. I still have to grind because the grind does not stop.”
Alabama continues to offer prospects in the 2022 recruiting class with Weldon being one of the latest to get an offer from them. Robert Woodyard, a 4-Star linebacker, is currently the only 2022 prospect verbally committed to Alabama. Weldon said he feels Alabama is a place, where he knows he will be develop.
“Personally, I think Alabama is a good program,” Weldon added. “I know they will get my right. I will get bigger, stronger and faster. I could go ball out, start on defense and be projected to go in the first round.”
The 2022 prospect possesses a frame, that allows him to play all over the field. At 6-5 and 215, he is built like a defensive end or outside linebacker, but moves really well as a defensive back. Charles Huff, Alabama’s running back coach, told Weldon he could see him playing defensive back or linebacker at the next level.
Hallandale High School uses the junior in different ways, including at cornerback, which is where Weldon feels he plays well.
“I think I cover really well,” Weldon said. “I can get really low and jam wide receivers. I feel I can tackle well, but I want to improve on my off-coverage and ball skills.”

No stars have been assigned to Weldon by any recruiting sites but it is safe to say he is projected to be rated as a 4-Star recruit or higher. He plans to continue working through his recruitment virtually as the global pandemic impacts college football visits.
