During his Wednesday press conference, Alabama head coach Nick Saban gave another update on the team’s injured defensive lineman LaBryan Ray.
Ray has been out of action since the Crimson Tide’s game against Ole Miss with an elbow injury and today Saban mentioned that he is back at practice and his status for the game is strictly how he feels.
“He’s practicing. I think it’s a matter of how confident he feels with it,” Saban said. “Does he feel like he has enough strength to go in there and play? It’ll be strictly up to how he feels. We’ve cleared him to make progress as he can, different kind of injury.”
Saban had previously mentioned the nature of Ray’s injury is one that could possibly linger throughout the season, so holding him out and allowing it to properly heal may be the best course of action.
“He’s been out there, he’s practiced,” Saban said back in October. “But he continues to have issues and problems. So we just need to shut him down and let him get healed up so that this is not going to be a problem in the future.”
In three games Ray has recorded a total of 11 sacks and 0.5 sacks in his limited time on the field this season.
