In his first season as a starting quarterback, he has the Crimson Tide at 8-0 and boasting the top ranking for the College Football Playoff.

His leadership and performance on the field has the Tide ranked No. 3 in the nation for scoring offense (48.5 ppg) and No. 6 for total offense (535.6 ypg), while standing at Nos. 1 and 2 respectively for both categories in the Southeastern Conference.

During seven of eight matchups, Jones navigated Alabama to at least 40 points — including two 60-point outcomes versus Ole Miss (68) and Kentucky (63). He has five 300-yard passing performances and ranks in the top-six nationally in every statistical category for quarterbacks.

Jones chimes in with 2,728 yards and 23 touchdowns to three interceptions.

He is the leader in this year’s Heisman race and he is fresh off a career game versus Auburn.

According to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation, Jones has been selected as one of 10 semifinalists for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award. With its presenting partner, A.O. Smith, the Golden Arm Award is presented to the most outstanding senior or fourth-year quarterback in college football. Jones is in his fourth year as a redshirt junior for the Tide.

AJ McCarron, former Alabama signal caller, won the honor in 2013.
