Jackson is a 4-Star linebacker, according to Touchdown Alabama. He has been verbally committed to Alabama football since May. The Prattville High School product chose Alabama over Auburn, LSU and others.
Auburn was considered the favorite to land Jackson at one point in his recruitment. The Jackson family has strong ties to the plains. Ian’s mother is an Auburn graduate and a former member of the Tigers’ marching band.
Multiple other members of the Jackson family have attended Auburn as well. In the end, it was the Crimson Tide for the Prattville product. His commitment has not wavered since committing to Alabama despite teams like Auburn continuing to push.
Jackson comes in at 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds. The Prattville Lions line Jackson up at safety to start off his high school career. As he began to put on more weight, he was moved to inside linebacker. This past season was the first year Jackson played inside linebacker full time.
The Alabama signee was able to to anchor the Lions’ tough defense as a senior.
Caleb Ross, the head football coach at Prattville, told Touchdown Alabama Jackson never stop getting better as a senior.
“He is a kid that brought it every day,” Ross said. “He brought an attitude to get better every day and it never changed. He wanted to be the best that he could be and he made sure everyone around him was working just as hard as him. He never stopped working and learning the defense. Something else that stood out to me about Ian was that he played his best football in our biggest games.”
