Although he’s been away from Alabama for two years now, current Philadelphia Eagles starting quarterback Jalen Hurts is still carrying the lessons he’s learned from Nick Saban.

Hurts payed homage to one of Saban’s most famous rants when he was asked about rumors and outside noise surrounding the Eagles. The Texas native said he “tries to stay away from the rat poison” when it comes to anything from the media.

Curious as to what he meant the reporter pushed him on the meaning of “rat poison.”

“You gotta ask coach Saban,” Hurts said on the zoom conference. “He knows a little bit about rat poison too.”

Hurts has been a star since he was named the Eagles starting quarterback a few weeks ago. Since then the second round pick has thrown for 5 touchdowns and 647 yards. He also led the Eagles to a victory over the top seeded New Orleans Saints as he has kept Philadelphia’s season alive and helped keep the jobs of many in the organization.
