Since the beginning of the season, Alabama head coach Nick Saban has been an advocator of the college sports bubble created on each university campus. The meticulously planned out scheduling keeping each player in line acts as a line of defense against COVID-19 as it shortens each player’s exposure.
But the biggest concern of any team is when they allow their players to travel home.
Especially for the holidays.
Unlike some teams in the College Football Playoff, Saban allowed his players to go home for the holidays last week and then return to Tuscaloosa to prepare for the game.
“I don’t have the heart to tell players they can’t go home for Christmas,” Saban said following the College Football Playoff announcement.
Fortunately for Saban and the coaching staff, it appears the player’s short break was a success as the head coach shared the team hasn’t experienced any problems with positive testing.
“We haven’t had any problems, I always knock on wood when I say that,” Saban said during his Thursday press conference. “Everybody we expected to be on the trip will be on the trip.”
Alabama conducts daily COVID-19 testing within its facilities and will do so once again ahead of the team’s game against Notre Dame on Friday at AT&T Stadium.
