After trekking through a 10 game SEC regular season, Alabama is headed into the College Football Playoff a bit banged up.
Two of the Crimson Tide’s most high profile athletes on the injured list have been wide receiver Jaylen Waddle and LaBryan Ray. With many questions circling around the availability of the two-headed into the Rose Bowl, head coach Nick Saban gave an update on the status of the two.
Unfortunately, nothing much has changed.
“No, there hasn’t been any changes with those two guys,” Saban said during his Thursday press conference. “And we always have guys that are a little nicked up that we kind of make a decision in pregame warm-up if they’ll be able to go or not. But we’re hopeful that all those guys will be fine.”
Saban previously updated each one’s injury status on Monday where he shared that Ray is not practicing and is still trying to rehab the elbow injury he suffered in practice from earlier in the season.
In terms of Waddle, he is beginning to do some land running as he too is making his way back to the football field.
“Jaylen’s rehab is coming along,” Saban said on Monday. “He’s doing dry-land running. Still working to try to get back. But he is making progress. And we’re happy to see him be able to at least go out there and do some running and do some things, but he’s not back in practice yet.”
Alabama will kickoff against Notre Dame in the Rose Bowl at AT&T Stadium at 3:30 p.m. CT for the College Football Playoff semifinal.
